In last article, I introduced the wild feature and its mathematical impacts on modeling process. It is nothard to find that even wild features are shown as symbols on the windows, but they have totally different mechanism from other symbols
Based on the mechanisms, symbols can be divided into different types. In this article, I will introduce some common symbol types so you can have a better understanding on the mathematical models of other features that I will introduce in the future
Standard Symbols
The most basic symbols in slots are standard symbols. Symbols in the picture below are some common standard symbols
Whether those standard symbols landing on the paylines decides whether players can get the payout. Which means standard symbols are the basic components of combinations
The 7 symbol, bar symbol and fruit symbols are one of the most famous style of standard symbols, but standard symbols do not have a strict pattern requirements. All proper patterns can be used as icons of standard symbols
Wild Symbols
Wild symbols is one of the most common feature symbol in slots. You can find them in almost all slot
Wild symbols normally do not have combinations and payouts, but it can be seem as any other standard symbols in the paylines, through it cannot replace any feature symbols like scatter and bonus
In most slots, they would use pattern with "WILD" as the pattern of wild symbols, which is easy to read for players
Scatter Symbols
Scatter symbols are the symbols which have a firm connection with triggering special mode of slots, such as free games and bonus games
Like wild symbols, scatter symbols normally do not have combinations and payouts
There is another symbol called Bonus Symbols. Bonus symbols are the symbols to trigger special mode, too. The biggest difference between scatter symbols and bonus symbols is the scatter symbol often triggers free game, but it would be good enough when you clarify the rules in the rules page
Multiplier Symbols
The multiplier symbol can be seem as a special scatter symbol
When multiplier symbols landing in paylines, and paylines match the combinations, payouts would times the number on multiplier symbols
Multiplier symbols often shown as symbols with numbers on them, but not all symbols with numbers are multiplier symbols. Some of them are instant price and bonus
