In previous two article, mathematical models of 3-1 and 3-3 slot were introduced. These two slot only have one combination for each symbol, but in many online slot products, you can normally find that one symbol would have 3 to 4 combination

Mathematical Modeling - Classic Slot

Assume that the 3-5 slot has 3 kinds of symbols, which is J, Q, and K. All of them can be found on reels 1 to 5, and their orders on each reels are as follow:

Actual reels would be much more longer. This is just a brief example to show the modeling processes

Besides counting the amounts of symbols on each reel as the event of this symbol landing on the window, for slot like 5-3 slot, which have more than one combination for each symbol, you need to count the amounts of events that this symbol do not landing on the window, which is equal to total events minus the amounts of landing events

Then, you can calculate the event amounts of each combination. What you need to know is that the way you calculate the total amounts need adjust according to the way you calculate the event amounts

For example, when you calculate the {J,J,J,X_J,X_J} combination, if you calculate it like 2*2*2*4, the total amounts should be 6^4 rather than 6^5, because you ignore the events on reel 5. Both way would be OK, cause the result are the same. What is more important is that the base have to be the same

{X_symbol name} means that this symbol does not on this position

Finally, you can use the winning chances of combinations times corresponding payouts to get the RTP of this slot

In a word, the biggest difference between 5-3 slot and 3-3 slot's mathematical modeling process is you need to calculate the event amounts that do not landing in this position to differ combinations

Mathematical Modeling - Video Slot

The process of video slot is pretty similar to classic slot. What is the biggest difference is that you need use 100% minus landing rate to get the rate that do not landing in that position
